Dear Parents/Guardians,
CELEBRATING CHILDREN DAY:
EMPOWERING OUR YOUNG ONE
I hope this letter finds you well. As we approach the annual Children’s Day celebrations on May 27th, I would like to take a moment to share with you the origin, history, and importance of this special day.
Children’s Day has its roots in the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognizes the importance of childhood as a critical stage in human development. In 1961, the United Nations General Assembly declared May 27th as International Children’s Day, aiming to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.
In Nigeria, Children’s Day is celebrated annually on May 27th, with the theme “Catch them young.” This day is significant as it:
– Raises awareness about children’s rights and needs
– Promotes unity and friendship among children
– Encourages parents, teachers, and guardians to provide love, care, and support for children’s development
As parents and guardians, you play a vital role in shaping your children’s lives. On this Children’s Day, I encourage you to make it a special day for your children. Give them nice treats, take them on outings, and spend quality time with them. These moments will create lasting memories and strengthen your bond with your children.
As you celebrate with your children, remember to instill in them the importance of hard work, perseverance, and high aspirations. Encourage them to dream big, aim high, and strive for excellence in all they do. Help them understand that they have the potential to make a positive impact in the world.
At Whitehall Schools, we are committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment that allows our students to grow and thrive. We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and we are dedicated to helping them achieve their full potential.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let us work together to make this Children’s Day a memorable and joyful experience for our children.
Sincerely,
Dr Ogedengbe O Alexander
